Week 1 - Midweek Meeting Mingle

[ It's been a few days now. Everyone is fairly certain of that, even despite the lack of day/night cycle in space. For better or for worse, the sight of the other chosen has become familiar to everybody. Yet, the group still lacks cohesion. At the very least a certain extremely pink person among you all thinks this way.

At some point today, everyone will have been tapped by Shizuka (or people who could easily be convinced to play errand boy for him) to come meet around the Terminal for some much-needed strategizing. Refreshments are not provided, it's strictly Bring Your Own Rations.

The important thing here is getting together and exchanging info, which Shizuka is going to at least try and facilitate. He steps up and adjust his glasses. His tone is somewhere between serious and haughty, which anyone who's spoken to him will recognize as his default voice. ]

Good afternoon [ he has decided it's afternoon ] and thank you for coming.

It's come to my attention that most of you don't have any prior experience with being a chosen superhero, and that - perhaps even more pressingly - our original realities vary quite drastically from each other.

Milling about like headless chickens is getting us nowhere fast, so let's get some basic introductions and strategizing over with, shall we?

((ooc: to streamline things a little, there are sub-headers for different discussion subjects. feel free to add your own if something isn't covered yet!))

[ Another person from Earth! Except, it seems they hadn't spoken to this one, so they decide to incline their head in Bailey's direction. ]

Oh? Supernatural Support Agency? ...Did you happen to consider the compensation worth it?

[ This is an important question, naturally. ]

Well, it pays enough to let me split costs with my roommate pretty well, and the insurance benefits aren't too bad even if I had to negotiate for 'em.

[They're going to answer it seriously, because they're not part of the Cagey Bitch Conglomerate and don't see any harm in talking about their life.]

And I have enough time to have hobbies when I'm not drowning in schoolwork or case research, so it's a pretty nice deal. I cover a demographic not many can, so they don't really have much choice to not work with me.

Not often do internships pay well from my understanding of those concepts, so I suppose you are quite fortunate that you're able to gain benefits in addition to adequate monetary compensation.

[ They don't have to worry about the nonsense themselves, clearly. But, such is the reality for humans who live ... something resembling normal lives? This individual may in fact come into contact with the supernatural. ]

What kind of 'demographic' do you happen to work with, hmm?

I like to think it's because I was very convincing arguing my case.

[Because they did have to argue it, but it all worked out in the well! Which is not suspicious at all. Bailey is just very polite.]

Spirits, mostly. Or ghosts, if that's what you'd prefer. Sometimes I help out with our vampire clients, as well, but nobody else in the office can talk to ghosts.

[that's job security!]

Ah, yes. Despite what anyone may think about the idea of it, the power of persuasion is quite invaluable indeed.

[ They don't disbelieve that. They've forced had certain agreements reached before after long and reasonable discussions. ]

...I had no idea you were used to associating with monsters such as vampires - though they are associated with spirits and ghosts as fellow supernatural creatures so I can't say I'm surprised. What is it like? Are they all unpleasant creatures...?

Yeah, I'd have to agree with that.

[They snicker, for some reason, at the question about what vampires are like.]

I've definitely met vampires who are assholes? But most of them are pretty alright. I do live with one, but I wouldn't say their vampirism is what causes any friction in our friendship, unless getting woken up in the middle of the night is something that only happens with vampire roomies.

[ Surely none of them shouted any such nonsensical vampiric cries that would be ear-aching? Though, maybe they did.

What surprises them most is that apparently most of the vampire clientele is decent enough for the other to say that. But, perhaps it is simply the way of this other person's world; anything is possible, after all. ]

I'd say being woken up in the middle of the night could feasibly occur with any other type of room-mate.

...Though, since most of them are reasonable, what would you say is the worst vampire you have met? I assume that the snore of a vampire isn't so apocalyptic, after all~

If they do make any sound when they sleep.

[Oh, the vampires are definitely loud, but more so because some people are just too high energy and goofy.]

The worst vampire I've met? Probably this one stuck up asshole who comes by the office all the time because he was a part of the employment program but he couldn't keep a job pass their trials because he was such a tool to everyone.

Or my roomie's sire, because he spilled wine on my keyboard once and it had to be replaced.

[And they will never let him live it down.]

[ That is...not as catastrophic as they have been imagining.

Granted, their imagination can be quite colorful and perhaps at times ridiculous, so perhaps they shouldn't have been picturing end-of-the-world scenarios ala Alucard-in-Wallachia type of deal. ]

...I can't say I expected to hear something so tame.

Well, it's a pity to have to replace electronics because of someone's clumsiness.

[ Still... ]

Have any of those other supernatural beings tried to kill anyone before? I can imagine ghosts would have done their fair share of trouble causing, to say nothing of some difficult spirits.

[Sorry, Mx. Wikipedia, the vampires are just sort of normal people at the end of the day. No dramatics here!

Unless...?]

Sorry, my life isn't super interesting all the time. Only sometimes!

[They put a hand to their chin, humming. Trouble and difficult spirits? Yeah, that's definitely a common occurrence. Still something Bailey would consider quite mundane, because it's not like it's any sort of crazy world-ending threat like they're all being forced to deal with right now.]

Well, historically, vampires used to kill humans loads, but that was before everyone kind of figured out how to work with each other—and on an individual level, of course there are some who are gonna be violent, same as a human could be. Personally... I've run into some spirits who weren't too happy and have the scars to prove it.

[ Considering where they are, there's still time for that to change. Still, they let out an amused huff of a sort. ]

...In the end I suppose that would be better for you than the alternative.

[ They understand that there are oddities on their own homeworld that make it difficult to consider certain things normal. Ghosts and spirits are not unheard of where that's concerned...vampires, not so much, however. ]

History marches on, then. In the end a world that has too much turmoil isn't exactly always the norm - though, given what I have heard of others thus far in snippets it appears that may not necessarily be the case amongst our "group".
