After eight long, difficult weeks of fighting, you've finally done it. You've put an end to Neo Metal Sonic's dreams of conquest and with it, you've saved not only this world, but all worlds. Perhaps not everything is wrapped up as neatly as some of you would like, but you've done what you set out to do, and now you can breathe a sigh of relief.
In the hours that follow the immediate aftermath of Neo Metal Sonic's defeat, Tails sets about figuring out how to control the Egg Fleet and recall them to where Neo Metal Sonic had them stationed. Sonic heads out into the city - and then even further beyond - to ensure that the people are starting to regain their senses without anyone to suppress their free will anymore. Knuckles escorts you back to the base, then takes a ring to hop into the Void to let Shadow and Infinite know what's going on.
As for you all? You aren't expected to do any work, because you've done so much today. Take a load off and take the time to rest - you deserve it.
For those of you who can't wait to get home, you're welcome to grab a ring from one of your colorful friends and head straight back, but for those of you willing to take the night off and regroup in the morning, you'll find that said colorful friends have put together a party for you - or, well, they tried their best. The decorations are store-bought (or not) and simple, Sonic seems to have thought confetti is the best way to throw a party and there is so much of it getting showered on all of you the moment you walk into the room, and someone obtained a sheet cake that did not have any sort of message on it, so an awkwardly scrawled message of "THANKS FOR HELP" is written in bright green icing that clashes with the cake's soft pink and red color scheme. An attempt was made.
You're welcome to hang out here - both in the new base and in this world as a whole - for as long as you'd like. Permanently, even, if you don't have any intention of going home. After all, you've more than earned it. Sonic and friends will gladly help you figure out a way to get settled here.
If you do choose to stay for any length of time and head out into the city, you'll find that people are indeed starting to return to their daily lives. They don't really understand - or remember - what happened, but they do recognize you as someone they have some innate fondness for, regardless of how startling your appearance may be to them. The city itself has seen better days thanks to the spread of Eggman's chroma, but thankfully the natural elements are recovering from that just fine. The buildings, streets, and the like will not naturally recover, so it seems Chicago's going to require some pretty intensive rebuilding...
But for the time being, everything is going smoothly, and you've done everything that was asked of you. You're free to return home. If you do, your shard may eventually come loose and simply fall off, ridding you of both the shard and its powers. Or maybe it won't, and you'll have that memory of your time in this world forever, along with the power innate to you and the ones you can activate from your fellow shardbearers whenever you're near each other.
Congratulations, shardbearers. You've done the impossible, and maybe even formed some new bonds along the way.
( Welcome to the final log of Shardbond! With this, you have successfully navigated your way through the Sonic friendship game and no one died! Hooray!!! For this final log, you may do whatever you'd like - if you want to use this to do an immediate aftermath top level, go for it! Party top level? Sure? Post-game top level? Have fun! Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles are trying to be good hosts, but this party is sort of... well, they tried, and surely that counts for something? Sorry about all the confetti everywhere. No, Sonic will not stop, he has more. You can expect to be ambushed by him at some point. Tails has finally stopped working for five minutes to try to bring everyone drinks and snacks, because you guys were so good about doing that for him, so let him return the favor!! And Knuckles will try to shove cake at you, because he is very proud of his cake, okay. He even cut it himself! (It is poorly cut too.)
Shadow will spend approximately an hour here, which is an hour more than he would allow under most circumstances. You'll want to catch him before he accosts Sonic for a ring and then simply leaves, because he is not coming back after this. He's got plenty of things to be doing back home, after all. For the duration of the party, he'll be holding up the walls and watching you all, with the usual frown in place despite the festivities.
Infinite is holding up the opposite wall, glaring daggers at Shadow, but at least he's not throwing down. He's chilled out quite a bit from being in the Void so he'll talk to any of you that seek him out, though he will get the shards of the Phantom Ruby from Shadow before Shadow ditches this world entirely. Still, it's not enough for Infinite to go back to messing with anyone's nightmares or creating illusions, so at least there's that. He's not entirely sure where he's going from here, but he'll figure something out.
And... well, there is one robot, holding up one of the other walls and keeping to himself. Neo Metal Sonic is here, watching you all impassively. Wow, look at that. We are 3/6 characters holding up the walls. Incredible stuff. I don't know what any of you expected, this is a top level for six damn characters. Free me.

1. First off. Tails you are getting so hugged. Like absolutely hugged after this. 2. ...Tails you will also be meeting Rapunzel, who is going to be hilariously confused at all of this but very amendable to the cute fox and endeared. Enjoy meeting another Nikke!! This one is very sweet and religious and not sure if she'll actually ever remember him if pressed, but meeting him has definitely shaken her resolve on going back home a teensy bit... 3. Shadow. You will be getting one little convo out of Dorothy before you go; nothing major, just kind of checking to see what he's gonna do. Dorothy will give him a few of her extra rings, telling him about Dahngrest, and probably hinting that he should visit if he ever gets time. (Not because she'd miss him, or anything. Nope. Surely not!)
But Neo...well, Dorothy visits him after Rapunzel's gone off on her own, and she'll stop just a little bit away, smiling.]

[He keeps his interactions with the main group pretty minimal and professional - out of all of them, Sonic should be very well aware that Vakama's running a pretty strict deadline as it is! Sorry for almost shooting you when we met, buddy.
Still, before he thinks about leaving, he at least tries to hunt down their little foxy friend. Their first conversation stuck with him quite a lot, after all...]

[A woman with long blonde hair that may look familiar to some of you speaks to Dorothy, now back in her casual outfit as the two of them stand outside the base--Rapunzel herself looks like she just got out of a Rapture skirmish at least, and while Dorothy's gaze is somber, she nods.]
I'm certain. For what little I imagine it's worth, I...am sorry that this is the conclusion that I have come to, Rapunzel. [Dorothy's gaze doesn't avert. She's not the most sorry, in truth, but...] ...None of you need me anymore. The only thing that I would end up doing if I go back there is leading our world to ruin. And I...
I do not want to do that, when you all are fighting so hard for it. Even if I don't believe in the cause you fight for, nor the humans that live on the Ark...you deserve to see it through. Maybe I'll be wrong, and you all will pull of a miracle.

[Rapunzel's look softens just a touch, but...she manages to smile, just a bit.]
You really have changed. I've never seen you with so much hope or light in your eyes before--not since our days in the Goddess Squad. [Rapunzel, who's always been quicker with gestures of affection, pulls Dorothy into a hug--one that Dorothy lets out a surprised noise to, but...she returns it.] ...I'm not going to say that I like your conclusion. But I forgive you. If it truly would cause you only to bring pain to the people we seek to protect to try and convince you to come back...if this is the only way you'll stand down...
Then I will stand by your decision, for the betterment of all. [...] ...You really do seem so much lighter, Dorothy. I really can't help but be proud of you.
[Dorothy starts at that, sniffling a bit and clinging closer to Rapunzel, shuddering, but--when she comes up, it's with a smile.]
...Let me introduce you to some of the others, at least, before you go? I'm sure that they would love to meet the real you.

...It's a bit of a long story. Do you mind...?
...I won't be able to remember them, you know. But...if they've made you this happy, then of course! I'd love to. [Rapunzel chuckles, but she at the very least seems amendable.] Shall we?
[Dorothy and Rapunzel will be available after this conversation, Dorothy having ushered her inside the base; they can either be together, or you can seek out Rapunzel after she's been introduced to Tails and had some repair work done. Just let me know if you want both or just one of them!!! Rapunzel will be gone by the late evening, clearly having...grown a little attached, but knowing she can't leave. (...unless y'all really wanna convince her somehow--)
And of course, you'll find Dorothy herself the next day, starting to pack her belongings to prepare for her big move. Dahngrest is only a little ring away, but...man. It's gonna be hard saying goodbye to this place and going their separate ways.]
I'm good! Just as tired as everyone else probably is, I imagine. But knowing I'm not the only one of the team staying here makes me happy! Even if some of my friends are leaving, knowing some are staying back here with Team Sonic... I'm glad.
[As much as he likes Team Sonic.... he'd still have been a little sad watching everyone else leave after he'd gotten some actual solid friends.]
[In the immediate aftermath, Vakama stays at least a couple days. Worn beyond too far of a celebratory mood, but not entirely eager to bid goodbye so quickly, either. He doesn't travel the city - there's no need to frighten waking people with his appearance, and he has no reason to make any name or image for himself. He can be found either out overlooking the water near the base or tucked away in his room, sorting through notes and tearing certain pages out. He will also seek about everyone out that he can, should they be on base grounds, if only to ask some final questions.

He gives it three days. Only three. What he has on him is sparse, the exact things he came with and only a few sheets of the many, many notes he'd taken. He does not seek many out for goodbyes, nor does he plan on any doing the same for him.
He's never been showy. Not as a Matoran, and not now. But he will at least give a warning the morning that he chooses that it's time to leave, and will wait until the evening hours to part.
Those that remain behind will find all of Vakama's notebooks tucked away with the rest of the reading material. In them contain written chronicles of their entire journey, both factually and of Vakama's inner thoughts. One tied stack simply contains images, strange and frightening, but with all notes scribbled out. Another, for those that have ever spoken to him, contains the names and as much story as possible of all of those who chose to don the role of "hero" in their short time together.

For those that ever bother to seek him out past the rings? Well.
Opening a ring will always provide a location. Always a stretch of sandy beaches opening up to a tropical climate and the reaching stretch of a volcano in the horizon. What you will find? It depends how long it's been.

[Hopefully, Fukuda is able to bid farewell to Vakama properly. Even if not, he won't be mad. But he will have, at some point before Vakama left, asked permission to come visit him. He wants to see the wild robot world for himself almost as much as he wants to see Vakama.
He would have likely come sooner if the Chicago team hadn't ended up with so much work to do as far as helping the city rebuild. Sixth months pass before he's able to open a ring to Vakama's world. What will he find on this beach?]
[During the Afterparty, Fukuda's clothes are still covered with his own dried blood, but he's buzzing with the team's victory on top of the fact that he's secured a place for himself on TEAM SONIC?? Very cool. And the fact that he's not going to be alone, well, it makes this query a lot easier, and he is curious. So he'll trot up to people, and ask;]
Are you planning on going home? Or to someone elses? Oh, or are you staying here too?? Ah, I thought I'd compile a list, so we can keep track of everyone, in case something goes wrong... Or if we want to plan a reunion or something!
[If you need a reason to share with the hole man... He seems sincere given he's got a notepad and pen in hand. He's comfortable moving around everyone in a way that makes it obvious there was always some hesitancy in how he carried himself before. Like he was afraid to take up too much space, like he didn't actually think he deserved to be there. Now, he's not making an effort to shrink his large frame down as much as possible.
As things die down over the next few days, Fukuda will see off those he's grown fond of which is... most people lets be real. He makes everyone promise to visit every once in a while. The rest of the time he's already finding ways to keep himself busy, mostly around the base. It's clear, after a day or so, that he's hesitant to go out into Chicago proper now than the civilians are back to normal.
But finally a few days after people started leaving he has to venture out, likely due to the thinning numbers. He doesn't ask anyone to go with him, refuses to use that crutch. What's the poin t of everything he's been though if he can't handle the rest of the world scorning him? That said, if you lingered, you may be privy to the sound of Fukuda loudly entering the base, before joyfully declaring;]
The people here aren't bothered by my hole! I-I can really live a normal life here!

Slipping away from the group and their party for a moment, Viktor's right hand was closed tightly and held to his chest like he was safeguarding his absolute last hope. Once he was enough of a distance away he slowly uncurled metallic fingers, staring for a moment at the gold ring lying against faintly glowing violet.]
[He'd taken the time after the fight and repairing Neo to fix his damaged clothes; asymmetrical and unmistakably Zaunite in nature to those who knew what to look for, goggles firmly on his head and a new red-gold brace supporting his leg. It only truly occurred to him now--everything was different. Viktor wasn't the person he used to be, even before turning into a monster. That...was a worrying thing, right now.]
[Now, all I want...is my partner back.]
[But how many times could Viktor walk away before any sensible person decided enough was enough? How much damage was too much? How many idiotic choices could be so easily forgiven? How many dratic changes could Viktor undergo and still be that person?]
[Please, he thought, let it be just one more.]
[Viktor let the ring fall from his hand, stepping away from it as the portal opened to a too-familiar laboratory--the safest guess as to where he would be, even on the heels of the near-end of the world. Despite everything...that had been home to both of them, and that was the safest bet on having a portal open without drawing unwanted attention.]
[He took a deep breath, letting prismatic eyes fall closed for the few seconds it took to collect himself.]
...Jayce? Please tell me you are actually there and I am not talking to an empty room.
[It should have been a poignant but triumphant end to the myriad conflicts they'd faced, and yet as Jayce and Viktor embraced one another at the edge of the universe...something happened.
Viktor vanished.
With his absence, the Glorious Evolution came to an abrupt end. Runeterra was saved from an unspeakable calamity. They'd won. But yet again, Jayce was left without his partner, and something told him that there was no hope of getting him back this time.
The following weeks were a blur as Jayce tried to cope with Viktor's absence. He went through the motions of leading the cleanup efforts around both Piltover and Zaun, aiding those displaced in the chaos. He checked in with Mel, Caitlyn, and the others to figure out a plan going forward. Anything he could do to distract himself from the inevitability of an empty lab waiting for him.
But in the end, he found himself there once more, tracing his fingers along the papers and projects that had lain dormant for months. He started going through them, reminiscing over all the plans he had made with Viktor that will never come to pass. But before the gnawing emptiness could fully grip him, he spotted a freshly-placed note that lacked the layer of dust occupying the rest of the room. That didn't make any sense. He was the only one who could get in here, so how...?
Eyebrows furrowed in confusion, he picked up the note...and promptly dropped it with a start. The handwriting was unmistakable. But...but how? He scrambled to pick the note back up and with a hand firmly pressed to his mouth, finished reading its contents.
Viktor's alive. Against all odds yet again, he's alive.
...Ah, Jayce would have to find that screwdriver again.

It's been a few weeks since that fateful day, and Jayce has hardly left the lab since, often pacing back and forth for the day that Viktor would finally reappear. He's in another bout of pacing when something miraculous happens: a ring-shaped portal suddenly manifests in the middle of the room, grounding Jayce in place out of pure shock.
He's about to take a tentative step toward it when he hears Viktor's voice emerge from the other side. His heart leaps into his throat and he finds it difficult to breathe.]
V...Viktor?
[Finally, his legs remember how to move and he rushes into his partner's view.]
[ More is definitely staying to attend the party, and possibly a few days longer just to brainstorm with Turo on where they truly are going now that the universe is at their fingertips for real. He looks to be in high spirits, which is... somehow most evident by the size of his current heels. He'd reluctantly downgraded a little to not break his legs in combat but! No more! High goth is back in business, baby!!
After the initial cake-sharing is done with, you can find More with a big sketchbook out. Really early on, Oscar had told him to draw everybody here as a fun little guessing game, and now that they're all going to part, the idea lingers in his mind yet again. Anyone passing by and giving him even as much as a glance, gets a smile and a question: ] Would you like a commemorative picture?
[ ... he knows cameras exist, okay, but this is a more personal parting gift to remember him by.
On the next day you can find him in the city, enjoying being out and about in a world that is friendly and not shooting him with lasers. You can find him at an outdoor table of a café, totally neglecting his drink to just peoplewatch. Or maybe you can find him making the world's worst attempt at climbing a tree to get a stray ring(tm)? Either way, he's really enjoying just living.
Otherwise, you can always approach More at the base, where he'll be packing a small suitcase to take with him into his new life. ]
[It's parroted. Vakama clearly does not have the energy to be partying right now and has been keeping to gentle pleasantries as Sonic and co have eagerly tried to show their gratitude. But he takes the distraction More brings, if it means a moment for a little bit of quiet.]
I don't see why not, but... what exactly did you have in mind?
[After he finally resolved something important, Viktor seemed much lighter for lack of any better word. There was so much to do, infinite potential and countless possibilities laid out in a world he still had so much to learn about. A real, tangible fresh start with a chance to do better and improve a world without destroying it utterly.]
[But before any of that, there were so many people to seek out; to make plans, say farewells, perhaps even point out a new companion for them to introduce themselves to at some point. He had already made it clear he was staying in Chicago, but that just meant those who were leaving would be greeted with a genuine warmth as Viktor went around checking up on his new friends before they went to wherever their next steps would take them. He moved with a practiced ease helped by the newer brace around his leg, staff remaining a telltale tap-taptap of his approach.]
[Each of them had been irrevocably changed; circumstances forcing them to adapt and shift to overcome the impossible, each challenging the other to advance before finally emerging as distinctly different forms of themselves in mind and spirit. There was something beautiful to that fraught and difficult process, Viktor thought. As chaotic and anomalous as wild magic was the concept of free will, the resolve and pain and joy and all else that made one human.]
the only draws back home are her friends, and... the rings, if they're able to continue using them, would help with that. she likes it here, though. especially as life begins to heal for the world.
she likes tails, sonic and knuckles. she likes the people she's met. she likes freedom. hell, she even likes? infinite?
which is wild considering that she wanted him dead when he finally revealed himself.

Void Archives will unsurprisingly be hanging on the afterparty after judging the skills in the cake, but being tactful enough to keep their mouth shut. Or maybe it is because they haven't found anyone to talk about it just yet. They probably have a drink on hand, but whatever the case, they are a little more on the quieter side. It's all coming to an end...and, well, they are well aware of what they pulled at the final hour - plus, everyone will be departing.
They don't want to admit that they're going to be disappointed not to see some faces regularly, but at the same time...they imagine they won't be able to deny it. For anyone who dares to approach, Void Archives will have some words: ]

They can be caught just about anywhere, from the aquarium, to sitting atop a city building at night, no matter how many weird looks they might get. ]

[ There's also the potential prospect of other wildcard shenanigans, but it is entirely up to you for that. They will also at various points be willing to visit people in other worlds - particularly those who make the shortlist of their close friends, because they are more sentimental than they like to appear. ]
[Maybe it's a robot thing, but Turo's also sort of enchanted by the idea of hanging out on roofs at night! He'd do it during the day too, but people don't seem to love it? He thinks this may be the lack of flying-type Pokemon around; they aren't used to people being up that high.

...when I was still trapped in the crater, I used to watch public-facing security cameras. I'm used to seeing people from above like this.
[Turo stays for the party, of course. He hasn't really got anywhere else he needs to be; More is here, so there's no rush. They'll doubtless have to work out where they want to start first. For now, though, he seems content to hold up a wall and watch everybody else eat. It's...sort of a lonely feeling. Soon, it's just going to be the two of them. As happy as he is to have More's companionship, it'll be strange for their large group to suddenly be cut down to just a pair. Will they all ever get together again?

[The next day is largely spent out in the city. He's never really gone anywhere properly populated before! The mindless Chicagoans hadn't quite seemed to count, but now the city feels really alive. Alive, and also inexplicably fond of him?
He sits a while at an outdoor cafe, ignoring the menu in favor of people-watching. It's rude, he knows, and maybe he'll order something to-go and give it to More later. But these are the sorts of places he best liked watching on the security feeds, back in the crater. He's here now, just like an ordinary person. Even if he can't actually enjoy a coffee or a sandwich...he leans back with a smile, watching both people pass and the fluttering of a passel of nearby pigeons with equal fond interest.
Back at the base, he doesn't really have any personal possessions to pack. He hangs around to watch other people pack instead.]
I'll be staying and helping Fukuda keep an eye on him.
[In much lighter spirits than usual, Viktor shrugged and tilted his head in the direction of the killer robot hedgehog.]

[ wolfwood, unsurprisingly, will want to rather quickly upon all the dust settling and where it’s comfortable for people to be parting ways (if they are). because, despite everything, wolfwood needs to return home as there is something very important that he needs to do—something that he was in the middle of. though, he will be polite enough to stay long enough to either to personally hand out or leave the small animal carvings that he made earlier in the week in one of the centralized areas of the base.
of course, to make sure that there is no confusion as to what animal goes to which person, he’ll have carved the name of the person each animal was intended for. example: tails, sonic, knuckles, shadow (yes, even him), and infinite (sorry redd)—all get a small wooden animal to match what they are. …just with a few of the details better to match them. a black and red hedgehog for shadow, a fox with two tails for tails… (a silver cat for infinite because that made more sense to wolfwood).

[ while there’s no chance in hell that wolfwood would ever allow anyone to stay any amount of time in his home, for anyone who wants to sneak a peek (via ring) and see what he has been up to after he’s gone and left, they’ll find him attached to a certain man in a long red coat with spikey hair. feel free to realize that it’ll be the same man who haunted wolfwood during the less than stellar times.
regardless of how much time has passed from when wolfwood bid his farewell and checking up on him, he’ll always be seen with the man in the red coat. whether it’ll be in the literal sense (the man in the red coat holding onto wolfwood) or in the figurative sense (the two of them riding together on a motorcycle), they’ll be attached to the hip and enjoying each other’s company.
and it'll be the happiest and most relaxed wolfwood has ever seen.

[ It's been a long, long time since Gyles has felt this at peace. While he's sure as shit doesn't know what he wants to do with these remaining years of his life, they're his to live and cherish. ... and he plans to do so, here in Chicago. It's not home, but it's where he wants to be.
During the party, anyone will be able to catch a truly rare (but hopefully not so much anymore) sight: Gyles smiling. He's got a piece of cake, too, but he's scraped off the frosting to reduce the messiness. ] Almost gonna miss these weekly parties. [ He knows the others will start leaving soon. Things can't stay the same forever.
He himself stays at the base for another week or so, split between saying his goodbyes and venturing into the city to sight-see now that things are calm(er). He's being productive some of the time, looking for housing, but he can very easily be roped into other adventures along the way.
But eventually, he moves into an apartment a short walk away from the waterfront and settles into "retirement", where he spends plenty of time taking walks, whittling wood, and hosting dinners for whoever happens to be available. "Retirement" is in quotes because while he's expressed that he's much too old now to be running around and saving the world, he's gonna leave that work to the younger generations, he's also said he'll come running whenever any of them need him.
And in turn... ] ... You got any suggestions for hobbies? [ He asks, potentially while you're visiting him at his apartment where he's got so many wood carvings on display. Like, a comical amount. Please help him. Or get this man on Etsy. Maybe both.
Despite this apparent lack of direction, though, Gyles is content with this new lot in life. Though months later, he's letting anyone that's stuck around in Chicago know that he's- ] - Gotta tie up some loose ends back home. Should only be gone a few days at most. [ He swings a rather heavy bag over his shoulder, but pauses before activating the ring and stepping inside. ] ... 'less you wanna come with?
[Hell yes. A Party. Jasper is so here for this. He's going to get a very large slice of cake for himself--perhaps discourteously so... he might be persuaded to get an apology cake later. Maybe. If you judge him for how big his slice of cake is. he will have booze as well if he can find it. and party games.

[ Whenever Jasper is done collecting his rings, Void Archives can be found nearby after he's more or less made himself done with the whole entirety of his efforts. The blond will be crossing his arms, leaning up against a tree, before pushing off of it, and coming on over to him. It may have been that the blond simply has had the opportune moment in tracking him down.
Though the other blond will find that the being before him hasn't exactly been entirely at rest and only being a socializing butterfly themselves - though, it is indeed their usual priority. They will hold up a little golden bag and jingle it purposefully. ]
And here I thought you would be spending most of the time partying before we left~? Is it possible we both had the same idea...?
[ Lark hangs around the party for at least a while, trying the cake and then seeming to almost instantly wonder if maybe this is too sweet for his tastes. Eventually, whoever, he steps out with a can of soda, wandering over to look out at the water nearby the base. He seems to be in a thoughtful mood, judging by how he seems a little distracted.
A couple of days later, Lark heads back home, only to return within the next few days with a white-haired girl in tow. As he shows her around outside the base, she has a look of something between awe and scepticism; the sort of look of someone who's never seen a city that wasn't the perpetual daytime darkness of Wu-Jian. ]

[Lucifer is around for the party as his normal chipper self, but eventually he seems to sneak off without a word. It's almost like he left without saying a word, but a while later, maybe a day or two at most, he returns, and he's not alone.
Though the woman he's with seems less than thrilled. Probably because he was gone for quite a long time and then suddenly appeared in the precinct after walking through a ring like he decided Dr. Strange was an awesome movie to imitate.]

Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles are trying to be good hosts, but this party is sort of... well, they tried, and surely that counts for something? Sorry about all the confetti everywhere. No, Sonic will not stop, he has more. You can expect to be ambushed by him at some point. Tails has finally stopped working for five minutes to try to bring everyone drinks and snacks, because you guys were so good about doing that for him, so let him return the favor!! And Knuckles will try to shove cake at you, because he is very proud of his cake, okay. He even cut it himself! (It is poorly cut too.)
Shadow will spend approximately an hour here, which is an hour more than he would allow under most circumstances. You'll want to catch him before he accosts Sonic for a ring and then simply leaves, because he is not coming back after this. He's got plenty of things to be doing back home, after all. For the duration of the party, he'll be holding up the walls and watching you all, with the usual frown in place despite the festivities.
Infinite is holding up the opposite wall, glaring daggers at Shadow, but at least he's not throwing down. He's chilled out quite a bit from being in the Void so he'll talk to any of you that seek him out, though he will get the shards of the Phantom Ruby from Shadow before Shadow ditches this world entirely. Still, it's not enough for Infinite to go back to messing with anyone's nightmares or creating illusions, so at least there's that. He's not entirely sure where he's going from here, but he'll figure something out.
And... well, there is one robot, holding up one of the other walls and keeping to himself. Neo Metal Sonic is here, watching you all impassively. Wow, look at that. We are 3/6 characters holding up the walls. Incredible stuff. I don't know what any of you expected, this is a top level for six damn characters. Free me.

But finally a few days after people started leaving he has to venture out, likely due to the thinning numbers. He doesn't ask anyone to go with him, refuses to use that crutch. What's the poin t of everything he's been though if he can't handle the rest of the world scorning him? Viktor vanished.
With his absence, the Glorious Evolution came to an abrupt end. Runeterra was saved from an unspeakable calamity. They'd won. But yet again, Jayce was left without his partner, and something told him that there was no hope of getting him back this time.
The following weeks were a blur as Jayce tried to cope with Viktor's absence. He went through the motions of leading the cleanup efforts around both Piltover and Zaun, aiding those displaced in the chaos. He checked in with Mel, Caitlyn, and the others to figure out a plan going forward. Anything he could do to distract himself from the inevitability of an empty lab waiting for him.
But in the end, he found himself there once more, tracing his fingers along the papers and projects that had lain dormant for months. He started going through them, reminiscing over all the plans he had made with Viktor that will never come to pass. But before the gnawing emptiness could fully grip him, he spotted a freshly-placed note that lacked the layer of dust occupying the rest of the room. That didn't make any sense. He was the only one who could get in here, so how...?
Eyebrows furrowed in confusion, he picked up the note...and promptly dropped it with a start. The handwriting was unmistakable. But...but how? He scrambled to pick the note back up and with a hand firmly pressed to his mouth, finished reading its contents.
Viktor's alive. Against all odds yet again, he's alive.

Void Archives will unsurprisingly be hanging on the afterparty after judging the skills in the cake, but being tactful enough to keep their mouth shut. Or maybe it is because they haven't found anyone to talk about it just yet. They probably have a drink on hand, but whatever the case, they are a little more on the quieter side. It's all coming to an end...and, well, they are well aware of what they pulled at the final hour - plus, everyone will be departing.
They don't want to admit that they're going to be disappointed not to see some faces regularly, but at the same time...they imagine they won't be able to deny it. For anyone who dares to approach, Void Archives will have some words: ]

[ Void Archives will be departing at some point, though it's not immediate, because they're not going alone. For those who wish to catch them before they head off with Jasper, and all that jazz, this prompt is for you - their time in city, that is. They can be caught just about anywhere, from the aquarium, to sitting atop a city building at night, no matter how many weird looks they might get. ]

[The next day is largely spent out in the city. He's never really gone anywhere properly populated before! The mindless Chicagoans hadn't quite seemed to count, but now the city feels really alive. Alive, and also inexplicably fond of him?
He sits a while at an outdoor cafe, ignoring the menu in favor of people-watching. It's rude, he knows, and maybe he'll order something to-go and give it to More later. But these are the sorts of places he best liked watching on the security feeds, back in the crater. He's here now, just like an ordinary person. Even if he can't actually enjoy a coffee or a sandwich...he leans back with a smile, watching both people pass and the fluttering of a passel of nearby pigeons with equal fond interest.
Back at the base, he doesn't really have any personal possessions to pack. He hangs around to watch other people pack instead.]

Departures seem like they should end a bit more sacred, somehow. Either way, they are going to block off his path to escape. ]

During the party, anyone will be able to catch a truly rare (but hopefully not so much anymore) sight: Gyles smiling. He's got a piece of cake, too, but he's scraped off the frosting to reduce the messiness. ] Almost gonna miss these weekly parties. [ He knows the others will start leaving soon. Things can't stay the same forever.
He himself stays at the base for another week or so, split between saying his goodbyes and venturing into the city to sight-see now that things are calm(er). He's being productive some of the time, looking for housing, but he can very easily be roped into other adventures along the way.
But eventually, he moves into an apartment a short walk away from the waterfront and settles into "retirement", where he spends plenty of time taking walks, whittling wood, and hosting dinners for whoever happens to be available. "Retirement" is in quotes because while he's expressed that he's much too old now to be running around and saving the world, he's gonna leave that work to the younger generations, he's also said he'll come running whenever any of them need him.
And in turn... ] ... You got any suggestions for hobbies? [ He asks, potentially while you're visiting him at his apartment where he's got so many wood carvings on display. Like, a comical amount. Please help him. Or get this man on Etsy. Maybe both.
Despite this apparent lack of direction, though, Gyles is content with this new lot in life. Though months later, he's letting anyone that's stuck around in Chicago know that he's- ] - Gotta tie up some loose ends back home. Should only be gone a few days at most. [ He swings a rather heavy bag over his shoulder, but pauses before activating the ring and stepping inside. ] ... 'less you wanna come with?

[ There is a slight jocular note to their tone, as if they are certainly teasing him so, because they can. The trolling aspect has never left.

well, anyway. He's going to wait around to see when Void Archives is ready. And also see if he can track down any more rings, because he doesn't really want to stay in any one world for too long. He's curious about other worlds and doesn't want to stay tied down, really. He kind of gets the impression Void would like that also? He's not going to say it, but like. It does seem like they would appreciate it.
Aside from that, though... he's... just kind of pensive. Enjoying Chicago. Hitting the clubs. Still unsure what returning home will bring.

A couple of days later, Lark heads back home, only to return within the next few days with a white-haired girl in tow. As he shows her around outside the base, she has a look of something between awe and scepticism; the sort of look of someone who's never seen a city that wasn't the perpetual daytime darkness of Wu-Jian. ]
