Can't really be thinkin' about yourself or your dreams on the battlefield, not when there are people around you whose backs you need to watch. But... I guess you aren't wrong about the choosin' to do what needs to be done part. After a while you just sorta start to do it without really thinkin' about it, which is why it doesn't really feel like courage or bravery or anythin' like that. It's just somethin' you do.
