You find yourself awakening in an unfamiliar location. Even if you don't sleep - even if you weren't sleeping in the Void, or even if you weren't in the Void - you find yourself here now. Your head feels fuzzy and you struggle to remember. Where are you? What were you supposed to be doing? Who are you? The exact extent of this is up to you all, but regardless, waking up is a struggle.
Getting free is going to be even more of a struggle. You're suspended in a glass tube of some kind, bound at the ankles and wrists keeping you aloft by mechanical shackles. Those will break fairly easily even if you aren't the strongest; the glass tube will be the bigger problem. It's thick and not the easiest to break - although those of you with enough strength can shatter it, and if you remember how to use your shards, those could come in handy.
Speaking of, you still retain your shards on the backs of your hands where they should be. You can still make use of them even here... wherever "here" is.
It seems to be a laboratory of some sort; aside from the glass tubes housing all of you individually, there are several more filled with liquid and dark objects within... are they people? Regardless of what they are, they fill you with dread. You don't want to end up like them, do you?
The laboratory is dimly lit. You can only see a few feet in front of you, making it difficult to tell what else this place has to offer aside from your fellow shardbearers and those ominous tubes. Strangely, any attempts at creating light - whether that's through anything you have on your person or through use of your shard powers - will simply fail. You're stuck in the dark, it seems, and even if you were once capable of seeing in it, you aren't able to now.
Focus on getting free first, then let's see where this leads.
I don't remember. There's a fog in my mind, and I cannot reach beyond it.
[ More is placing his hand on the glass as if trying to reach for his mirror image in place of his memories. Maybe this is the part of himself he has lost...? He can't tell. He doesn't remember. ]
[ Lark, suddenly recalling the entire premise of Shardbond, how he got here, and everything he has experienced in the past 6 weeks or so (to say nothing about the rest of his life, in general): ]
It was all nonsense and noise to me. That you moved as quickly as you did to action it... I won't lie that you worried me, Viktor. [Like, it was fine, but also: sir. Please. Please sir we have words that can be used.]
Perhaps it would be best for all of us to speak up to the rest if that sort of knowledge descends without an explanation.
[He really should have seen his own corrupted version coming. Fortunately, while not foreseeing his duplicate emerging from a tube, he does dodge the attack (13).]
[ amazingly, the only people who are taking damage is gyles and himself, but given that gyles has yet to be freed and wolfwood can't heal himself, it leaves him with the chance to properly act. so, cue him pulling out a gun that he had been carrying with him AND NEVER GETS THE CHANCE TO USE BECAUSE OF ROCKS OR EVERYONE FAILING ROLLS to take some shots ( 14 ) at either gyles'—or lucifer's if our furry man's duplicate ends up being taken out first. ]
[The gunshot breaks through the terminal's screen and the images burst into that green and black static again. You've succeeded at turning off the terminal! The soft hum of that static is the only noise left to you.
...For a moment, anyway.
You hear a voice in your head - it surrounds you and is you and it's oppressive to the point of wiping out all of your thoughts so you can only focus on what it has to say.]
Cease your meddling. I won't tolerate your presence here.
[The world fades to white even as you try to get your bearings even after the voice releases its hold on your mind.
...
You awaken back in your tube. The glass is still broken and you're still free to leave.]
