WEEK 1 EVENT

The passage of time in this place is not easily tracked, not without a clock of some sort, anyway. The days may even begin to blend together, only occasionally interrupted by confrontations with the robot spiders or discussion with whoever is on the other end of that terminal.

It seems like things won't change any time soon. But something is off today, and some of you may notice it sooner than others.

The mind-numbing drone of the nearby builder going about its work has been with you from the very start. Located behind the terminal and far down below, it was the first sound you heard upon arriving here. It has been arranging walkways in increasingly complicated and baffling designs, extending them ever outwards into space. This much has not changed at all during your time here; the drone of the machinery moving and metal being slotted into place may even have become somewhat comforting background noise.

It is completely silent today.

The skittering of spider robots through the vents or patrolling the area is not heard either, and though the atmosphere remains as gloomy as ever, the lack of sound will undoubtedly be noticeable to some of you. Thankfully, you can still hear; it's simply that the machines have stopped their usual tasks, for whatever reason.

Investigate?

[...]

Do what you need to do. I can handle it.

[They really are alike in so many ways, Dorothy notes, so machine-like yet so strangely human. It's...strange, but not unwelcome, and she looks grateful. But she's handled worse pain before. She can take whatever he needs to do.]

The person at the terminal, they said that they also have some experience with machinery. If they're...able to arrive safely, they likely have better tools, if they're not able to help explicitly as they implied.

Very well. I believe I can at least stabilize this until then. [And if they didn't show up, well, that's a later problem!]

[The Hexclaw twisted over his shoulder, following Viktor's focus sharply as he sought out the exact points of damage. Difficult, machinery he had never even conceptualized before, but not impossible Matters of small detail was where he specialized, and metal was metal no matter where one was.]

Take a deep breath if you need to, and brace yourself.

[Counting down quietly from three for Dorothy's own benefit, he tightened his hold on her arm to keep her still and concentrated on as little power as he could, sparking two short laser bursts to stop the bloodflow--or flow of whatever it was.]

[Dorothy mentally prepares herself.

It's not like when Cecil repairs her, when Dorothy doesn't simply handle her own repairs. She's trusting someone entirely new with this, if in a rather rudimentary manner. This must be like those wars humans talked about, where they had to make due with anything they could find to deal with their wounds. Not even during the first war, did they use anything like this, but...]

At your ready.

[It hurts.

Perhaps startlingly, Dorothy doesn't flinch at all. Gone tense, certainly. Is promptly biting her lip to stem any kind of painful reaction, absolutely. But she lets Viktor work even as the pain sears through what few nerves she does have left, and thankfully, it stops both flows pretty well. Dorothy was one of the first Grimms Models and her systems can be a little complex, but it thankfully works in sealing everything up so she doesn't risk bleeding out.

But she's alive. They're all alive. That's what matters most, and she'll bear any pain to see her mission through and lets Viktor work as long as needed. It shouldn't take too much longer, at least.]

Good--now just hold still a moment longer and I can put some of this back into alignment. If something hurts in a way it should not, tell me and I will try another approach.

[The third arm reached over further into his collar, pulling out a small toolkit from upstairs. His actual hands worked with exceptional precision as the Hexclaw settled on Viktor's staff to keep him steady, careful around unfamiliar technology as he moved damaged machinery back into place over the next few minutes.]

I do not have anything to close this with, so we may have to rely on fabric or bandages for that until a better option presents itself. Otherwise, however, I do not believe this is irreparable damage.

Of course.

[Dorothy's definitely not going to let Viktor fuck her up too hard at least; she's good with giving him directions and it at least makes life easier this way. It's strange to trust someone else with it, but Dorothy finds herself...

Well. Smiling just a touch. Don't comment on it. But Dorothy nods once he finishes up, careful not to move her arm around too much as she nods.]

I'm sure I can find something; hopefully without eating into our much needed supplies. But that's good to know. I suppose if I were to injure anything, I'm glad it's the arm I don't need to use as much.

[Once they're done, she'll get up and offer him her good hand if he needs it.]

...Thank you. I will not forget this--do let me know if there's anything I can do in return.

You do not have to concern yourself. I was able to help, so I did--I do not require anything for that.

[The toolkit went back to his collar, taking Dorothy's hand and standing before readjusting his balance leaning on the staff.] My skill does not match your technology, so your patience is appreciated.
