Eggman's robot stands unmoving just outside of the city limits. It has caused a lot of destruction in its wake, and the area where it has come to rest has been warped by Eggman's trademark chroma. Worse still, the various robots composing Eggman's army are concentrated here, meaning that trying to find a way in is going to be exceptionally difficult.
Your colorful allies tell you as much, but Sonic doesn't seem worried in the slightest.
"The three of us will keep 'em distracted. Egghead wants a piece of me, so the three of us will fight the robots."
"We'll send you guys in with a ring to hopefully catch him off-guard. If what we've theorized is correct, you should be able to literally knock the Master Emerald out of him, and once you have that, he shouldn't be much of a threat."
"Best of luck, warriors."
The plan is straightforward and simple enough, and your friends take off once everyone's ready to go. They've left you with two rings - one to get in, and one to get out. When you're all prepared, step inside.
Welcome to Eggman's control room. Bathed in black and green light, the inside of the robot's head is composed of three sections: a smooth circular outer wall that is sloped and would be difficult (but not impossible) to stand on, a circular platform in the center (far larger than the picture for the purposes of this fight), and an alcove built into the wall that houses a man and several high-tech devices. The man does not look up from the screens he's watching as you enter.
Eggman, on the other hand, is already aware of your presence.
"Here come the would-be heroes. Did you really think marching in here was a bright idea? In case you've forgotten, I hold all the power here."
Green lightning-like energy sparks around him and to him as he speaks, and Eggman kicks off the platform to move to float in the air - high enough up that it would be a pain to try to reach him without hoverboards. Of course, you do still have those...
"You all aren't who I'm after. Stone, take care of them."
He flicks a finger in the direction of the other human present in the control room who jolts a bit in response before furiously tapping away at the keyboard on the control panel in front of him. Eggman simply turns his attention away from you all, to focus back on Sonic and friends who are currently in the process of wrecking his robots. Occasionally he does something and the entire robot shifts - moving to punch or aim attacks at Sonic and friends with said robot which will cause the whole of the robot to move - mind your footing!
[ TRULY SHOULDN'T HAVE SAID ANYTHING ABOUT WOLFWOOD'S BALANCE LAST ROUND. it's fine; it wasn't as though it was a miserable fail/fall ( 10 ). all is not lost..... he can just lie here along with fukuda for a bit while others do something. that something hopefully not getting hit/hurt while he's here on the ground.
the main important thing, though, was that the blast did work on stone's shield and did a healthy amount of damage to it. it's a success overall. ]
[Oh that clapping at Viktor actually has his eyes flashing with a flare of temper.]
You cannot seriously find purpose in an end like that---!
[It's about all he can really get out before that lightning hits him dead on (6) with an involuntary violent spasm... bye Viktor, off he goes back across the floor at the impact. The shockwave that follows will, once again, keep him prone for the turn. (2)]
Gotta even the playin' field. Y'ain't exactly easy ta catch.
[But even though he did manage a hit, it was just a glancing blow. What is Eggman made out of with all that chaos energy?
Raven isn't much help against the current barriers, so he keeps his attacks focused on Eggman. Once he dodges the shock wave, anyway (12). Here comes another sneak attack! Will the same trick work twice, though?]
[Jinx is darting into the fray with a (20) that keeps her on her feet and weaving through Eggman's attacks.
She knows this type of guy, like Smeech. They can never shut up about their own brilliance. Makes it easier to distract them, even if the doctor has been dodging most attacks so far.
Foregoing her minigun, Jinx winds up and fastballs a small, circular explosive towards the chaos-man. Except it doesn't explode per say-- it instead bursts with glittery paint and smoke. A good way to remove some of that perception.]
[ ... oh. Oh this man's deeply fucked up. Not even Hune would forgive this.
Gyles remains steady on his feet (12) and uses his duplicates to fire multiple shots toward Eggman from different angles, with the goal of making it harder to dodge. ]
[ Wednesday resists the shockwave, just barely with an 11, and gazes up at the man. ]
You really do lack any shred of creativity, don't you? Lightning bolts? Jumping around a little? Mind controlling people into emotionless drones? No pizzazz, no style. But then again, typical for an old, very human man like you.
[ Her attack this round, though, is going to be aimed at the barrier. No point trying and failing to shoot the egg. ]
[ The lightning does hit More (10) but thanks to the crystals shielding him, it's no severe damage. He does manage to remain standing as well (12).
So while everyone else is talking to Eggman, More decides to talk about him. ]
Despite being hit with impassioned words and persuasive arguments, the one derogatorily known as Eggman remains unperturbed. He has closed off his heart from all who would wish to reach it, and now only exists as a single-minded tool of his own self-isolating goals. A heart, frozen as stiff as the chrome material he prefers, but nevertheless beating steadily inside an all-too-human body.
[ Ominiscient Narrator should hopefully do some damage on Eggman?? Or maybe it won't. ]
[Raven's voice is a comforting port during the storm of her thoughts that demand blood for everything that's happened. The shaking in perpetual rage dies down the slightest bit when she hears him, breathing to try and center herself.]
...It is. We need to prove that, and we're going to prove that. I know we can. We've had the world's faith put in us, and we cannot fail.
[Eggman's remarks are addressed to Vakama and Viktor this time around.]
I can and I have. And I'd like to see you all actually try, given how laughably easy this is.
[And sure enough... he is back to flashstepping his way out of every single attack. He's even striking stupid poses as he goes?? This guy. Also yes, this means he somehow flashstepped to avoid More's words. Don't think about that one too hard. Raven's sneak attack may have worked last time, but this time Eggman catches the blade in his hand (yet again not being cut) and clicks his tongue against his teeth before flicking the blade, knocking it away. Raven can still recover the blade and attack, but he's been knocked out of his invisibility for the next round.
Jinx's idea is a clever one and usually that would dull anyone's senses enough to let them land some hits... but Eggman is entirely unaffected and still able to fire off his attacks without delay. Void Archives, Yugi, Jinx, Lark, and Raven are once again dealing with lightning, have fun.
Percy shoots the barrier around the device in the center of the arena and it breaks, leaving said device exposed and vulnerable to attack. It also disables the device for this turn, so thankfully you all are not knocked off your feet for once! Yay!
Unfortunately, Stone is still at the controls to this place and he shoots another laser grid at you all. Eggman flashsteps out of the way, of course. Everyone roll to dodge lasers!]
