[A quick, easy smile, and the mask is back on as if it had never slipped at all. Maybe it's a silly, impossible thing to hope for, but it gives him a reason to keep fighting. If he can help bring a world without conflict, where no one else will need to become like him, then maybe his life will have been worth something after all. Whether that's strength or courage or just a simple selfish wish to be able to do something of value really doesn't matter in the end, after all.]

The kids already get upset enough when I don't come visit for a week or two while I'm on a mission. It'd be nice if I never had to leave 'em for that long again... maybe they'd stop climbin' all over me when I'm tryin' to cook for once. I can only keep borrowin' Miss Fiori to come play with 'em for so long.
