He had been inspired by the stories of Heath ever since he was a child. Heath was a man who led the first well-recorded expedition into the Zero Crater - he found several futuristic Pokemon down there already. As best as we were ever able to tell, the fabric of time and space is already thin down there, so one or two were able to slip through. But he was unable to capture one and bring it back for proof, so no one believed him. He died in obscurity.
