[ wolfwood is perfectly fine to listen to void archives work out their thoughts out loud as he waits to see what they end up as. a lot of what they end up telling him is all things that sounds pretty much to the book. admittedly some of it makes him uncomfortable—“romantic love”? suppose that is the proper name for what wolfwood feels for vash. what he feels for vash is different than what he feels for livio and everyone else back at the orphanage.
the whole thing isn’t a new concept to him but knowing it himself is a new concept and not something he considered for himself. at the end of the day, however, should he really be taking any of this advice from them in the first place? given the number of times that the two of them have clashed over similar topics, they were hardly someone to be talking about this with.
…and boy is there not a better demonstration of that than the final question that they ask him which completely blindsides him. it’s not even a record scratch—his whole train of thought goes crashing into a very solid wall without any hope of recovery. maybe even into the next four walls with the debris being scattered all over his mental space.
god knows what kind of face wolfwood is making—he sure doesn’t—but the cigarette he had been smoking will fall to the ground. ]
