You find yourself awakening in an unfamiliar location. Even if you don't sleep - even if you weren't sleeping in the Void, or even if you weren't in the Void - you find yourself here now. Your head feels fuzzy and you struggle to remember. Where are you? What were you supposed to be doing? Who are you? The exact extent of this is up to you all, but regardless, waking up is a struggle.
Getting free is going to be even more of a struggle. You're suspended in a glass tube of some kind, bound at the ankles and wrists keeping you aloft by mechanical shackles. Those will break fairly easily even if you aren't the strongest; the glass tube will be the bigger problem. It's thick and not the easiest to break - although those of you with enough strength can shatter it, and if you remember how to use your shards, those could come in handy.
Speaking of, you still retain your shards on the backs of your hands where they should be. You can still make use of them even here... wherever "here" is.
It seems to be a laboratory of some sort; aside from the glass tubes housing all of you individually, there are several more filled with liquid and dark objects within... are they people? Regardless of what they are, they fill you with dread. You don't want to end up like them, do you?
The laboratory is dimly lit. You can only see a few feet in front of you, making it difficult to tell what else this place has to offer aside from your fellow shardbearers and those ominous tubes. Strangely, any attempts at creating light - whether that's through anything you have on your person or through use of your shard powers - will simply fail. You're stuck in the dark, it seems, and even if you were once capable of seeing in it, you aren't able to now.
Focus on getting free first, then let's see where this leads.
[Break yourselves free and help your friends; for now, you're stuck in this dimly-lit, rather ominous laboratory. You can wander off in any direction once you're free - north, south, east, or west; there's no indication of where you should go, after all.]
[Dorothy hates this place so far, and she's barely been in it for a moment. She's able to break free easily with her strength, but she looks around this place with a wariness that she hasn't had in weeks. It's not safe here. It's not safe here, no, it isn't, this reminds her a little too much of home and--
Dorothy isn't going to wait for anyone else before starting to go West, determined to get out of this place that's setting her on edge.]
[ More is in the tube and he doesn't know who he is - that sensation in itself somehow manages to be the only thing about this situation that feels even halfway familiar.
He's happy to just... sit on the tube floor and dwell on the strange and transient nature of his nameless existence, until other tubes start shattering and a fear of being left behind begins gripping him instinctively.
So he's... knocking on his tube, waving a little. Hello?? Little help here?? ]
[Viktor wished this was not the second time he'd woken up stuck with no memory of how he'd gotten there. Or he would have wished as much, had his instant response not been a flood of panic, burn of a laser and the violent crashing of the Hexclaw through glass, Viktor staggering out in the frantic whirring of near-hyperventilating.]
Dorothy-? Wait, wait, hold on-- [Quickly trying to pull himself together, he grabbed his staff and half-stumbled after her before starting to straighten up.]
[ And in true Percy fashion (who actually...was able to break out of his tube, thanks to summoning a fucking war axe I guess), he grabs his hoverboard (thanks redd) and brings it up to More's tube.
Bang. Bang. Bang. He's just. Whacking More's glass with this board and then he decides to do a half-assed kickflip to finish it off. ]
[Dorothy tenses briefly for a moment when she hears a voice, whipping around and--oh. Oh, okay, it is him. Dorothy isn't going to just leave Viktor behind, and if he needs any help, she'll give it, but...]
Apologies, Viktor. This place has immediately set me on edge, I'm afraid, and the sooner we get out of here, the better.
[For all of the references of wanting to experiment on him that Rosé has made, Oscar suddenly finds himself very, very glad that it has never actually happened. Ugh, this is awful.
At least it's not hard for him to smash the tube and break free; once he's managed that, he's going to be seeing who else needs some help getting out.]
[ under no circumstances would wolfwood have been ever okay to be woken up to find himself in a lab. worse of all, in a state where he can't get himself out. not to say he's at the pure mercy of someone freeing him from the glass tube, but he does only have one good arm and good enough legs.
all three limbs getting to work to get himself free from the glass tube. he'll probably be able to get himself after enough time but, will it be before he makes his injuries worse? who's to say... ]
[ More (his name is More? this is good for him to know!) at least has the good sense to try and stand back a little to avoid being totally showered in glass shards. They're still all over him and kind of make his hair seem like it's been doused in glitter, but no dramatic cuts have been obtained! Success! ]
Yeah? I'm the guy that told you about skateboards when you first got here. You thought they were super majestic and said people in your world skated on swords before. ... Wait, did you forget how to do that, too?
[ i
i don't think more knew how to skate on a sword did he luna ]
Lucifer bangs hard against the glass, but isn't able to break himself free. Which is just as well, probably, given he'd have shattered glass with his fist otherwise, and then he'd be bleeding all over the place.
Not that it stops him from continuing to bang against the glass anyway.]
I'm fine, it's nothing. [He shook his head, quickly recovering from several unpleasant memories and taking inventory; he still seemed to have most everything of immediate importance, which amounted to 'a staff and a hoverboard'.]
Just--you should not go off alone. I'll come with you.
[ Ah, déjà vu. How many times will Ashley awaken in restraints, in a place she doesn't know? Third time's the charm? Isn't that what they say?
To her surprise, she pulls at the restraints hard enough and they break, but the tube, well...the tube's another story. She knocks on it, first tentatively and then fast, frantic— ]
No no no no no not again—help! P-please, get me out of here!
[ He's frowning, straining hard to remember. There is certainly something there below the horrible fog of waking up, but he can't grasp at it just yet. ]
I could skate on swords...?
[ HE DOESN'T REMEMBER WHO HE IS OR WHERE HE'S FROM BUT THAT SEEMS WRONG. ]
The machine stands placidly in the tube, waiting, for a little while. It has been placed here. There must have been a reason. Maybe it's awaiting repairs. But it's still a learning machine, so as it watches others break out of their tubes, it absorbs and considers...maybe it's supposed to do that instead? But maybe not. Maybe it would be in trouble if it did. The risk seems too great, so it just watches the others to collect more data first.]
[Well this sure is an unusual development. Ed panics for a moment, before realizing breaking the shackles is easy enough. That wasn't too bad!
The glass is proving more of a problem, though. Even though he tries, he can't break it. Trying to paint over it isn't successful either. The few strokes of ink he managed to make on the inner surface of the glass extends, but that's probably because of the fluid he's suspended in, making the ink fade enough for him to not be able to get out by himself.
The glass is a little weakened, though! So hey, at least it'll be easier to break it from the outside. With a claw, he taps on the glass, hoping to get the attention of someone, hopefully friendly]
[Dorothy understands. Getting confronted with her own mortality and wondering just what the future holds has done a number on her as well, but at the very least, she knows she's not alone.]
Apologies. I'll be sure not to wander too far from you. [Dorothy thankfully has her gun, if nothing else.] Hopefully we can make it through here fast, however. This place...reminds me far too much of some of the worse parts of home, I think.
[His memory might still be a bit fuzzy at best, but he does know two things - everyone is very intent on getting out of these tubes and he has some affection for this kid. So.]
Cover yer eyes, yeah? I'll get ya.
[And assuming Lark does so? The glass will shatter away with a few hard smacks of the back of his axe, and the shackles are even easier to pull off with hand and claw.]
[ THANKS I GUESS.......... at least wolfwood will make sure to be far enough from the glass as they break him free. if he looks unhappy about it all as it happens, its because he is. he's not some damsel!!!!
still— ]
Aren't ya bein' helpful?
[ maybe this can stand in for a "thanks" for now. ]
[ More has a hand to his forehead, as if that would help him grasp at all he's currently barred access from. It doesn't. ]
My memory... I did not know my name, before you called it. But if you... If you know who I am and what my purpose here is, I suppose I'll be... in your care, for now?
