You find yourself awakening in an unfamiliar location. Even if you don't sleep - even if you weren't sleeping in the Void, or even if you weren't in the Void - you find yourself here now. Your head feels fuzzy and you struggle to remember. Where are you? What were you supposed to be doing? Who are you? The exact extent of this is up to you all, but regardless, waking up is a struggle.
Getting free is going to be even more of a struggle. You're suspended in a glass tube of some kind, bound at the ankles and wrists keeping you aloft by mechanical shackles. Those will break fairly easily even if you aren't the strongest; the glass tube will be the bigger problem. It's thick and not the easiest to break - although those of you with enough strength can shatter it, and if you remember how to use your shards, those could come in handy.
Speaking of, you still retain your shards on the backs of your hands where they should be. You can still make use of them even here... wherever "here" is.
It seems to be a laboratory of some sort; aside from the glass tubes housing all of you individually, there are several more filled with liquid and dark objects within... are they people? Regardless of what they are, they fill you with dread. You don't want to end up like them, do you?
The laboratory is dimly lit. You can only see a few feet in front of you, making it difficult to tell what else this place has to offer aside from your fellow shardbearers and those ominous tubes. Strangely, any attempts at creating light - whether that's through anything you have on your person or through use of your shard powers - will simply fail. You're stuck in the dark, it seems, and even if you were once capable of seeing in it, you aren't able to now.
Focus on getting free first, then let's see where this leads.
[ well, at least helping one other person is still one more person than him, so he'll take it. tragically if only wolfwood could do the same... he'll make it up to the others later. hopefully. ]
Sure; let's see what kind of shit awaits us this time. Maybe if we're lucky we won't see rocks this time.
[A priest and a sentient wikipedia head north, surrounded by more of those tubes filled with liquid and dark shapes. There is no indication of anything changing even as you keep pressing forward. There's no indication of anything off or different either, and you'll probably feel like this whole thing is getting pretty pointless after awhile.
But then the tubes start being a little more spaced out, until eventually you find yourself in a clearing. Though this entire place is poorly lit, it seems that this section is somehow even worse - you can barely see a few feet in front of you, and any attempts to light up the darkness will fail.
You'll find that the only thing in this clearing is a cluster of those tubes. You can't make out what's inside from this far away, however.
[ Said sentient wikipedia tried to light things up. Unfortunately, there hasn't been much that they could do considering the circumstances. So, onward it is! ]
Let's get this over with, shall we?
A pity not much can be seen here.
[ What is in the tubes, anyway? Because the blond will approach. ]
[It's difficult to make out, even this close. Unlike the previous tubes, these seem to be full of a darker liquid, blending in with whatever's in the tube. The result is that you can vaguely make out a shape, but it's difficult to tell what it is beyond "something is in there".
...And then its eyes flash red, looking right at you.
Both of you roll a 1d20 to dodge, as this thing is breaking out of the glass.]
but here is wolfwood rolling a 9 even as he wanders away. SURELY IT'LL WORK OUT AND HE'S STILL GOING TO BE ABLE TO DO THE EXPLORING IN THE OTHER DIRECTION....???? ]
[Lmao at you both. To save us some time, I'll tell you now that wandering off will ultimately just lead you back into the maze of tubes and there will be no lightswitch to be found. :pensive:
But anyway, the thing in the tube lands hard on Void Archives, pinning them to the floor. Wolfwood is hit by the glass from its escape. Even in the dim lighting, you can make out some familiar features...
It's you, Void Archives.
Or rather, a twisted, corrupted, hostile and aggressive version of you. To exactly what extent it has been corrupted and what exactly it looks like is up to you! But it's absolutely not a person, just a violent wikipedia out for blood. It doesn't hesitate to try to drive its claws into Void Archives' face. Once again, roll a 1d20 to escape.
Oh, and you might want to roll a 1d20 as well, Wolfwood. After all, another one of those tubes is breaking open...]
[ imagine having two whole ass arms to help the glass off of them. imagine.... either way, wolfwood clearly has his own problems and makes an attempt to dodge out of the way ( 10 ). imagine also not being hurt?? or, well, getting more hurt.
this is not he was expecting things to go? at least things can't get worse, right? ]
Hopefully a 10 will keep him out of immediate trouble... Even if it doesn't though, he's still immediately conjuring his duplicates to try and separate the corrupted Void Archives from the actual Void Archives. ]
[rip me i should've done this in rounds. oh well too late for that now.
Wolfwood is immediately attacked by his own corrupted duplicate - and subsequently pinned to the floor. Roll a 1d20 for escape unless a buddy of yours frees you!
Void Archives is freed by Lucifer and that bat to the head does not make for a happy corrupted wikipedia. It seems far more focused on Void Archives than the person who actually hurt it, however - it dives back in to try to claw at Void Archives' face again.
Lucifer dodges the glass from the third tube breaking open, but Gyles does not. Regardless, say hi to corrupted Gyles! Unlike corrupted Wolfwood, corrupted Gyles opts instead to break more of the glass... you know what that means... Everyone roll a 1d20 to dodge glass shards!]
[Somehow, he dodges the glass once again (14). He'd help his roomie, but Void Archives being attacked yet again, and their creepy duplicate not turning its attention on Lucifer means he can't exactly switch gears.
[ when a corrupted duplicate (assumingly uninjured) of himself bursts through the tube, it shouldn't come to a surprise to wolfwood given what just happened with void archives. who could have seen this happen? truly??
at least there are others here now to join in the misery.
and if there was any hope for him to do anything else other than enjoy being flattened by his duplicate then it's totally out of the window as it's not going to be hard to given his current state of affairs ( 2 ). beautifully so is how the glass shattering from gyles' corrupted tube also makes it mark on him ( 10 ).
How irritating...do you think I'd let you do as you please?
[ Don't touch the face. The blond leaps back as Lucifer swings his bat at the creature (17)
They also dance around the glass shards (16)
And then since they are being helped out with their duplicate, Void Archives has learned the value of team work for allies and tries to shoot Wolfwood's, but miss (10)
[Gyles gets hit with the glass shards, but thankfully they do not hit his eyes! We aren't doing that to poor Gyles. Wolfwood's also hit by it, but both Void Archives and Lucifer dodge, which mean you all have a 50% avoid rate on glass. Congrats? Maybe this is better than rocks.
Lucifer's bat finds corrupted Void Archives' head again and this time when the blond goes down, it stays down. For a brief moment, it remains before its body simply vanishes, leaving behind only a brief moment of glitchy green and black haze that quickly vanishes.
Wolfwood is still caught by his own corrupted version, which also tries to go for his face with its claws despite Void Archives' shot. And corrupted Gyles is immediately charging its own true form to try to do the same - roll a 1d20 (to escape for Wolfwood and to dodge for Gyles)!]
[ priest and sentient wikipedia... what a combo. either way, while void archives fails (again) to light the way causing wolfwood to snicker because lord will he never not enjoy doing it, he's going to wander off in a direction opposite of where they're approaching. ]
Startin' to have some trouble glowin' under pressure there, lightbulb?
[ cue him looking for anything that could turn on any lights? or provide additional clues of some sort. where the fuck are they?? ]
no subject
[ They dip swiftly to help out their roomie wordlessly and regardless of that interaction, come back here. ]
Generous enough. Let's go North, shall we?
[ Will Wolfwood follow the blond if they go north all of a sudden? ]
no subject
Sure; let's see what kind of shit awaits us this time. Maybe if we're lucky we won't see rocks this time.
[ north the two of them go! ]
