Normally, such a thing would be completely unbelievable. For as messed up as the people in his world are (he would know, he's one of them) they aren't the sort to turn against their friends in such a truly horrific way - to say nothing of the flesh-eating monsters. Which are probably more believable, if we're being honest.
But Yeager watches the way she just... drains. She looks resigned, like she's expecting him to argue with her or doubt her. And really, it's a fair reaction to expect of someone.
