WEEK 5

Your fight against Infinite didn't go as expected. You've now seen what the false Chaos Emeralds are capable of and how their powers can be used by someone accustomed to that power. Though Infinite is no longer a threat, Eggman certainly is - and you're in no position to return to Chicago to try to take him down right now.

Focus on recovering and regrouping; you're going to need a plan to oppose Eggman from here on out.

THE VOID

Maybe you've grown complacent over your time in Chicago. You won't be seeing the city this week. Tails is adamant that it isn't safe to go back and insists that you remain here, within the Void between worlds. It is a still, silent abyss of nothingness, broken up only by gemstone-like shards that serve as platforms or obstacles, with very little else to see.

Gravity doesn't work properly within the Void, meaning you can float and even zip around at high speeds once you've figured out how it works. You can also stick yourself to shards no matter what angle you're at, resulting in walking upside down or otherwise getting stuck to one without being able to escape. Thankfully, this wonky gravity only applies to the Void itself, and you'll naturally come to master it as you spend more time here.

There are some shards that are shaped differently from the ones you can use as platforms, however. These are almost hexagonal, with a dark center that may flicker whenever you approach one. If you're lucky, the surface will flicker like water and show you images of another world - usually you will see Chicago and the robots rampaging through the city streets - but occasionally you may see glimpses of your home world or of other worlds. No matter what you do, you cannot interact with these visions. Since they do seem to be water, punching them will do no good; your hand won't even get wet, as it will go through and dispel the image entirely.

Settle in, it seems like you'll be here for awhile. Oh, and try to ignore that unnerving feeling of being watched - there's no escaping it when you're in the Void, after all.

RINGS

There is one bright spot in being stuck within the Void, and that's that your colorful little pals have rings. If you've been diligent about collecting them from whatever ridiculous places they've ended up in, you may even have a good amount! Though it will take a day or so for the rings to actually work, as the week goes on, you'll be able to world hop to your heart's content.

Which yes, means you could absolutely go home. Be mindful of your mission and just how long you spend there, because you will need to return eventually, right? Though time may work differently in the Void, it mostly works the same between worlds. Try not to spend more than a week back home.

But there is something a bit strange about world hopping; you can't really control where or when you'll end up.

You may arrive back in your home world at the wrong point in time entirely, either in the past or the future. You may end up in an alternate reality of your world (canon AU or fanmade AU) or you may even end up in someone else's world entirely! You all aren't used to using rings just yet, so it makes sense that there's some confusion.

Two of you attempting to use a ring together will have more success... but even then, failures can still happen and you can still be sent to the wrong places.

You may visit any world to exist except any Sonic worlds. Worlds where Sonic shows up as a cameo (Super Smash Bros, for example) are fine. Which yes, means I am barring you from visiting Sonic Underground, you'll have to forgive me.

SHARDS

Though you're stronger now than ever before, your power pales in comparison to Infinite's, let alone Eggman's. You're going to need to be much, much stronger if you want to stand a chance of fighting back. Maybe it would be worth it to visit a world full of monsters to practice using your shards.

As you fight with your allies - particularly those you have a close bond with, positive or negative - you may feel the tug of something in the back of your head; it tells you that you can do more. Together, you can become more powerful. You can use your shards together. Doing so will grant you a new power, or strengthen the one you already have. The more you trust one another, the easier this power will be to use.

It might be good to experiment with these new powers; after all, you never know when you may need them.

TAILS' TASKS

Rings can only be found in certain worlds, which means your worlds are safe from them. This does mean there are only a limited number of rings, however... so please keep this in mind when world hopping! This week, Tails does not have any tasks for you aside from continuing to train and develop your shard powers. Oh, and to stay safe, of course. Please don't get yourselves killed in some other world.

ENEMIES

Surprisingly, you will encounter none of Eggman's robots this week. The Void remains still and silent for the whole week and your worlds are free from Eggman's influence. You're welcome to beat up any enemies native to your own worlds, of course.

[ What do you do after you've been forced over and over again over the span of a week to accept that your lifelong partner is dead, not coming back, and would absolutely hate to see you as miserable as you are? ... no, seriously. This is a question he's asking himself.

He's spending a lot of time in the Void sitting in very deep contemplation, brows furrowed. He looks... not at peace, he's far too conflicted for that, but like something deep down inside's finally beginning to stir. Whether you're here to chat about what's on his mind or distract him with something (aka the wildcard option), he's welcoming it more than usual.

He can't sit still forever, though. Which is why you might see him a good distance away from wherever camp's established, further honing his shard abilities. Now that he's got more duplicates to work with, there's more that he can do - like making use of the fact his duplicates explode upon taking damage and deliberately shooting them from a safe distance.

Those he's talked to in the past might even get approached by him with an extended paw. ]
... Wanna see what we can do?

[ Later in the week, he'll be utilizing the rings to try and return home. "Try" being the key word, because there's a chance he ends up in your world instead. (aka you can drop gyles wherever and he'll react in turn) ]

Gyles's home (cw: death, grief and mourning (but much healthier this time around))[ But the destination he has in mind is a familiar place, for those who've been privy to his dreams: the port city of North Harbor. It's a lively city filled with humblefolk and birdfolk of all walks of life, from the upper echelons of society to the (sometimes literal) street rats. There's plenty of creatures to talk to, from jerbeens tending to their ships to raptors selling their wares in markets - but if you're looking for Gyles, he's actually on the outskirts of town, where the stone streets turn into dirt roads. He's kneeling under a seemingly random tree with a bouquet in his arms and a somber smile on his face. ]

... Sorry it took so long for me to see you. And for leavin' without sayin' "goodbye". [ He sets the flowers down on the dirt. ] Got you these. They're your favorite, right? Paid for them and everything.

[ Those who've seen into Gyles's mind and heart can piece together that this is the unmarked grave of his husband, Hune. And if not, well... you could always inquire. ]

i. void;

[ For obvious reasons, Void Archives can be seen hanging around in the void from time to time like everyone else; if someone wants to catch them for a chat before they go wander off somewhere and make themselves scarce (or drag some unlucky fellow into their conversations), they can.

Though, once again, they're probably doing the former, so their attention may need to be caught first. ]

ii. welcome to earth (honkai impact 3rd version...?ish)(multiple prompts);

[ Void Archives can be found on a version of Earth that maybe for whatever reason your character ended up going with them, tripped into the nonsense (literally or figuratively), or just show up independent of them being involved.

There are various places that can be visited. There's a city (which has a lot of things, including restaurants, hotels, and libraries.) Then, there's beautiful places like some forests.

Next up is an amusement park, if someone wishes to be dragged into shenanigans where that's concerned.

If anyone would like, the blond may in fact drag them out to see a mecha movie called Arahato in a random city, which is about a robot who saves the world from alien threats and whatnot (think Optimus Prime except this isn't a Transformers robot.) Though there are options for other movies as well.

There's also the option of appearing in a strange, snowy and barren landscape where there are hardly signs of life. Except...these weird, unfriendly bastards are here. They float and will try to slice you up with the strange, sharp objects hovering near their bodies. Also there's a fuckton of them, so it looks like fighting them will be necessary before anyone can manage to get out in time. ]

iii. out there;

[ This is the option for if anyone wishes to go to space or another planet entirely. Void Archives is not really the most fantastic company, but they are company. ]

iv. wildcard;

[ Want to spar against the cube? Do something else entirely at your own peril? The possibilities are endless. ]

[i; void]

[Early on in the week, Viktor managed to get a notebook from some world or another; for a couple days he could be found floating aimlessly in the void, focused entirely on writing with a look of concentration on his face. It probably wasn't blueprints or designs for once, considering he kept stoppng and starting again. Occasionally he'd scowl to himself and turn to a new page, starting over.]

[He also still seems completely unfazed by the amount of floating going on.]

[ii; piltover, night]

[If you're particularly close and generally inconspicuous, maybe Viktor asked for your help with something. Specifically, a stealth mission of sorts--retrieving tools and resources from Viktor's home. Why does that require stealth? Don't worry about it!]

[The resulting ring portal lead to the dead of night in a beautiful city, albeit a strangely quiet one. Ducking into the shadows of an alleyway, Viktor pulled up the hood of his outfit to better hide his face--which did nothing to conceal the rest of his cybernetics or the staff, but it was a start.]

...It is not too far from here. With any luck, we will not take long.

[iii; wildcard]

[Apart from that, Viktor would spend most of his time in the void unless asked to come along somewhere else; making small adjustments to his own hoverboard and repairing the others if asked, or generally staring out into literal space in quiet contemplation.]

[Last week was a lot.]

Visions of Another World
[Earlier in the week, when we're just getting peeks through the looking glass at other worlds, Fukuda's having a grand old time checking out the different hexagonal shards to see what sort of strange world is projected onto it. But eventually he finds a favorite, and it's ones he keeps coming back to. You might just happen to find him peering at it, but if you're someone who he's particularly warmed up to, you might actually get Fukuda excitedly coming up to you with a;]

Hey, come take a look at this!

[In this other world, a different version of Fukuda seems to be enjoying a lovely beach vacation with a red haired woman. They're extremely PDA, they have matching swimwear, and just in case you weren't entirely convinced, there's matching rings on their fingers.]

Can you believe it? Some other version of me got that lucky...

A Trip Home
[Fukuda isn't... terribly eager to get home, but then it occurred to him... He could get so many movies and books from home if he went there!!! More stuff to share with the group!!! However.... He has no idea the state of his home. The cops probably aren't still there, but.... So if he sees someone he's at all comfortable with, he'll ask;]

Hey, I want to grab some stuff from home, but I could use.... an extra pair of hands. It's not anything exciting, world-wise, but...

[Well, maybe it'd still be novel to some people.]

Wildcard
[Fukuda is still relatively low energy this week, though he's not quite as... off as he was the last couple days. He's mostly wandering around the void, he seems to especially enjoy the odd gravity, and you may find him walking along the underside of a shard, peering at various alternate realities, and can really be roped into just about anything. Just let me know if you want something in particular!]

[Jasper is, well... he's taking stock. He is not going to be starting off in another world unless someone can convince him to leave the void, because he's... well. He can be very regularly seen counting the stock of rings they have left in a way that suggests he really wants to use one, but keeps talking himself out of it.

Like... he's not constantly there. He is using this period of respite for the sake of just chillin', hanging out on one of the shards floating upside down and reading or just taking a nap. And he will occasionally approach others who are doing standard physical training or training with their abilities with a proposition:]

Say, you do not mind if I spend some time in your shadow, do you? I want to see what my limits are in that regard.

[...and sometimes he finds one of those hexagonal shards featuring the image of a fantasy-ass fantasy kingdom, stares at it for a while, and... goes back to taking stock of the rings and muttering a bit...]

...it would be more trouble than it is worth at this juncture. I do not even know if it will send me to the right place if I try, and if I do...

i. the void

[The void isn't as uncomfortable for Turo as for many people. He can't become uncomfortable from sitting or laying too long on bare stone. He's not worried about food or water for himself, at least. After a while, he starts exploring, tossing smaller chunks of stone out to try and observe the gravity fluctuations before jumping himself.

Right now, he's sitting sideways, oriented on a wall relative to everybody else. He's...making a squirrel drink from a water bottle. Squirrel is here, too!]

There's legends in my world that our universe has another world on the opposite side of itself, where neither time nor space flow normally. They say the Creator's shadow lives there. I wonder if it's related to this space at all?

[He's not really suggesting they're about to run into a Giratina, but maybe there was some kind of naturally-occuring rift that people observed in the past? This place does feel very similar to what he would have expected.]

ii. waving through a window

[Early in the week, Turo spends a decent amount of time watching the little dimensional windows floating around. He peers into them, occasionally touching one to send it spinning idly through the air. It's a fascinating phenomenon! Could it be replicated technologically...?

Most of these have just been visions of Chicago. One, though...he passes by it, and it ripples, before showing an image of the same boy he's been haunted by for weeks. Arven is walking along an outdoor path with his three friends, looking downcast.]

...Arven?

[Turo drifts a little closer, immediately locked in. Is that his world? It's impossible to say, of course - this could be some other Arven from some other universe. Really, is there such a thing as his Arven at all?

From within the window, a conversation starts:]

Arven...you OK, bud?

...yeah. Somewhere deep down, I...kind of already knew it. I knew that thing was fake...but it...when it said my name, using his voice and wearing his face...

[....oh.

Turo looks briefly stricken, then turns quickly to leave.]

iii. training montage

[There's no sign of people or civilization in this world. Turo's exited into a sparse, rocky path along some cliffs, where he seems to be getting...battle lessons?]

Lyc!

[The tan-furred wolf-like creature at Turo's side barks. The stones growing from around its neck glow, causing another stone to rise in the air and shoot at the creature standing across the open patch of dirt. Machamp punches the stone out of the air, shattering it. Turo watches the entire display carefully, and then his Shard glows as he summons several Tera crystals of his own, letting them halo his hand in imitation of Lycanroc's stone collar.]

So, like this...?

[One of the crystals shoots off at high speed to get intercepted by Machamp as well. The spectators - mostly Geodude and Rookidee hanging out on top of one large Garganacl - screech and cry out encouragingly. Turo is smiling for once, turning to look, when he notices company.]

Oh, hello. Do you want to do some training as well?

[Maybe we can show the Pokemon how those combination things work? Turo doesn't really know that himself, he's never done one.]

iv. wildcard

(( Turo spends much of his time out of the void, in fact, often hanging out in various wilderness locations. Some of them include Pokemon, some don't. He just likes going places and pretending he's having some kind of journey. Let me know if you want something in particular! ))

A. The Void

[Immediately after the fight with Infinite, Rio keeps to herself, bouncing her way into the outer reaches of the Void and just kinda spending some time with her thoughts. It's like this that most characters will find her, curled up and staring somewhere far in the distance, though she still has enough wits about her to speak up when approached:]

How far do you think it goes?

B. Back Home We Go

[A bit later in the week, she grabs a ring with a look of purpose on her face, using it to open up a gate to... 2001 Tokyo, if you happen to know what that looks like!

But even if you don't, she glances in your character's direction.
]

If you want to come along, you better decide quick.

[Because she's going to hop right through without any further hesitation, byeeee.]

C. In Memory

[Maybe you're just hanging around the void, maybe you're actually in a (currently safe area) of another world - either way, there's the sound of a camera shutter followed by the scroll of a mechanism as it spits out an instant photo right into Rio's waiting hand.]

Let's see how it came out!

["It" being a candid photo of your character, apparently. Couldn't she have at least given some warning so you could pose???]

1 - void

[After a bit of rest following the fight with Infinite, Raven is back to practicing with his shard power. As some maybe remember during the very first week, Raven was having an awful time with his shard power. Even using it for a few seconds would completely exhaust him and cause him a lot of pain.

He's since spoken with Tails about it, and he's been working on himself and his anxieties over the power. Bit by bit, his efforts have paid off. He's able to remain invisible for longer periods of time and doesn't suffer from quite as much exhaustion upon using it as he once did.

He can be seen (or not seen) working on it in his own little piece of void. Alternatively, he might approach anyone who looks bored and in need of something to do.]

Say, ya wouldn't happen ta be up fer a spar, would ya?

[Raven? Putting in effort? Perish the thought! But he's serious. He has plenty of reasons to lock in now.]

2 - A Vow of Unity

[For those hopping into a ring with Raven...

Welcome to Dahngrest, city of guilds and home to the Guild Union. The city is absolutely massive and looks straight out of a medieval fantasy. Up in the sky along with the perpetual gorgeous sunset is a huge array of rings.

There's all sorts of hustle and bustle as guild members go about their business. Raven stands in the thick of it, taking in a deep breath of fresh air.]

Ahh...it's good ta be back, if only fer a little while.

[There doesn't seem to be anything off in the atmosphere, either... Which is strange, considering the circumstances right before Sonic picked him up.

Turns out there's a real good reason for that.

---

If you decide to do some exploring with Raven, you might end up encountering a man whose very presence commands authority. Just the sight of this man freezes Raven in place.]

Don...?

[He shouldn't approach. He knows he shouldn't. But how...?]

[Sleep in the casket you made | Void]
[Sure, the void was pretty... boring. And Jinx wasn't particularly interested in the way visions of home and other worlds swirled before them. She's had enough vision for a lifetime. Now, she's getting used to zipping around atop her minigun like it's a inter-dimensional scooter instead of the most powerful weapon she (currently) has.]

Howdy there! [She floats on by you. Upside-down until she isn't.] Lookin to get somewhere? Air-Jinx is at your service.

[You're gone, sucker | Zaun]
[Jinx steps out into a particularly dingy alleyway, bathed in not the light of day, or even the moon, but the florescence of a million lights. The areas around here reek; of humans and not, oil and gas, a million bodies stuffed into caves.

Jinx breathes it all in... and smiles.
]

Didn't think I'd see this place again.

[She draws a cloak over her finger, hurrying past a wall plastered with, well, her face.]

You wanted to come along for the ride? Fine. Just keep low and stay quiet.

[But you're mad if you thought I'd let you go | Piltover]
[Alternately, Jinx is... a bit less happy about stepping into this portal, drawing her cloak especially tight round her frame. Even in the moon's glow on this gleaming city it feels a little too bright.

You're standing in a garden awash in vibrant violet flowers. Well-maintained, extravagant. Nothing like Zaun. But something about it draws Jinx to a pause, before,
