You hop through the ring portals, barely escaping Eggman's forces and making it through (mostly) unscathed. On the plus side, you're all here - in fact, you'll find Tails and Vakama nearby, with the fox having brought your pal here too.
But unfortunately, "here" is not exactly the best place to be.
"Back here again...? Sheesh, I really can't catch a break.
"What is this place, Sonic?"
"This is the space between worlds. The void, I guess you could call it."
Everywhere you look there's a whole lot of nothing. Gemstone-like shards litter this reality in all sorts of shapes and sizes, serving as obstacles or platforms; they're sturdy enough to walk and stand on, but this world's rules are a little different from what you're used to. For one, gravity doesn't really work properly - you may find yourself floating or walking upside-down on a shard you didn't mean to end up on, and it's going to take some getting used to.
There's not really much to do or see here either - at least, not for now. You're welcome to explore this strange place, but you won't find anything particularly interesting... with one notable exception as seen in the comment below.
No matter where you go, no matter what you do, you'll feel like you're being watched.
[If you choose to explore the Void, you may eventually run across one of the shards that isn't behaving like the rest of them. Most simply remain still, floating in the void with no movement whatsoever. This one is floating backwards, however; away from you and the portals you came from. It isn't moving all that quickly, and you can catch up to it, if you'd like.
The most immediate thing you'll notice as you approach is that something clearly struck this shard, and hard. It left a crater of impact, further shattering the shard into pieces, and from the rubble emerges...
...Is that Infinite?
Yeah, unfortunately Infinite's still alive. He still has Vakama's mask - and it's even intact and not damaged, yay!]
You!
[He holds out a hand as if to do something but... well, a whole lot of nothing happens. The Phantom Ruby on his chest is missing and though the fake Chaos Emerald on the back of his hand glows, it doesn't call forth any sort of power and the jackal hisses out a sound that's half-pissed, half-pained.]
Why are you here?
[Or maybe you come across him later, after he's calmed down a bit and has taken to sulking brooding on this shard, far away from everyone else. He won't greet you, but he does look over, watching your approach.]
If, for some reason, anyone wants to talk to the cube, they can.
But, they will not be approaching anyone this time around. If someone does approach, they flash one of their usual smirks (what? Did anyone expect that to just suddenly die?) ]
Quite an escape we just made, hm?
[ Surprisingly, they don't seem in a bad mood. Depending on who approaches, though, they might pause to see if the individual is looking alright, or maybe they're just double-checking there's no illusions. Who can say. ]
[ Gyles can't do too much for her, but he can wordlessly drape his cloak over her shoulders. He's not asking her if she's okay, because it's clear as day that she's not. And even if it weren't... well, considering the hell Infinite put them through, it'd be surprising if anyone was truly okay. ]
[Rio will linger by the portal long enough to make sure everyone made it out, but...
Well, once she's confirmed that, she's just gonna like. Tentatively float/bounce her way deeper into the Void until she finds a nice little platform to lay down log-style on, staring into the darkness as she rests.]
[Infinite's one visible eye flicks back the way Viktor came, obviously weighing his odds. He exhales sharply, an annoyed, defensive tch sound, before tossing the mask to Viktor.]
So Dorothy is just going to fucking collapse on the nearest, most stable place she can find and just. Lay down and catch her breath for a while. She's still a fucking mess and she is in desperate need of repairs, but they're alive. They're alive.
That's what matters most.
If anyone happens to join her, she doesn't move much, but she will flick her gaze over.]

[For a second, he looked like he wanted to say something else...then just turned around and left like he was used to traversing a space like this, making sure the mask got back to Tails and Vakama safely.]
[Turo knows Viktor is the designated engineer of the group, of sorts, and Dorothy's close friend to boot. It's only natural that she would prefer for him to help her. That's part of the reason he did not stick around to offer last week.
But he has all the knowledge and memory of creating himself; he's also essentially an engineer. Without the base and its workshop, everybody is limited in what they can manage. Maybe it's at least worth seeing if another set of hands might be of use.]
