The passage of time in this place is not easily tracked, not without a clock of some sort, anyway. The days may even begin to blend together, only occasionally interrupted by confrontations with the robot spiders or discussion with whoever is on the other end of that terminal.
It seems like things won't change any time soon. But something is off today, and some of you may notice it sooner than others.
The mind-numbing drone of the nearby builder going about its work has been with you from the very start. Located behind the terminal and far down below, it was the first sound you heard upon arriving here. It has been arranging walkways in increasingly complicated and baffling designs, extending them ever outwards into space. This much has not changed at all during your time here; the drone of the machinery moving and metal being slotted into place may even have become somewhat comforting background noise.
It is completely silent today.
The skittering of spider robots through the vents or patrolling the area is not heard either, and though the atmosphere remains as gloomy as ever, the lack of sound will undoubtedly be noticeable to some of you. Thankfully, you can still hear; it's simply that the machines have stopped their usual tasks, for whatever reason.
Ah, good of you to be late to the series of unfortunate events.
[ No pun intended. :) ]
There was a trap lying in wait for us - in the form of 3 mechanical entities. The last of which self-destructed, causing a heavy amount of damage to our number.
[ A quick, succinct explanation for the new arrival. At least she sort of came prepared. Ish? ]
[It's always good to keep an eye out, just in case. But for now you really can breathe a sigh of relief; aside from your discussions and the drone of the builder, there's no other sound and no other robots to look out for.]
[ He really does not want to be asking someone clearly distressed right now but he doesn't know who else here has been keeping tracking of their inventory, so: ]
[The last thing Raven sees is the sparks coming from the robot before the world explodes into white around him.
Huh. Never thought he'd find himself reenacting a scene that's been burned into the forefront of his mind for the last ten years.
...
When the dust settles, he can be found toppled over a ways off from the explosion site- battered, bloody and smoking a little. But he's alive? At least? He's just not going to be moving anytime soon.]
[ The explosion happens, and he's just accepted that this is just how it ends now. Hopefully, this time, he can just pass on without issue. In what are probably his last moments, he thinks about his time here, how he's probably gone and gotten Raven killed, and as the light shines bright, he swears that he sees his late sister standing in front of him, holding out her hand, welcoming him in the way he should have been back when death claimed him the first time.
...
That doesn't happen. The light fades. He's...fine. He's fine, things hurt a whole lot but he's at least alive and in much better shape than the shielders are. He doesn't like that Basilio and Lucifer are hurt and that is probably enough to make him feel ill, but then we have Raven... ]
Raven!
[ This is so much worse. For someone so used to not feeling, he sure is feeling a lot right now, and he immediately goes to him. He slings Raven's arm around his shoulders at Wolfwood's call. He doesn't know if he can drag Raven on his own but my god is he going to try. ]
We should. Last I checked we weren't in any danger of running out entirely but that's definitely going to change--
[Dorothy looks at her fucked up right arm and some of herself--her arm got the worse of it with exposed wiring and stuff and it looks like straining it isn't the best idea, but...
Shin is super late with no Starbucks, but as he descends the last few stairs with quiet steps, he finds himself staring at the mess of injured people and whatever remains of the machines that were beat to hell and/or exploded.
[ They offer the comment coldly, but truthfully. ]
I'm sure that they would most certainly like your assistance. So, go ahead.
[ Wolfwood's got some healing ability, but they imagine given the limitation of their powers it will not necessarily cover everything. Therefore, it's painfully clear that all those injured will need all the assistance they can get. ]
[ Shizuka is looking winded but overall no worse for wear, and he figures everyone's got the first aid covered pretty well now, so... might as well fill people in. ]
The builders went down, so we went to investigate. It was a trap, naturally. The builder attacked us, and two smaller and much, much more agile combat robots joined in - I wonder if those are the ones Nat2me warned you about.
I'll give you a hand. [ Paw. Whatever. Claws come in handy for tasks such as these - and it's better than wasting his energy cursing the fact that he doesn't have access to healing magics like he does back home. ]
[ He sounds angry in the concerned kind of way, but manages to calm down. Lucifer managed to do what he aimed for, even if Yves got knocked back a bit because lol nat1. ]
[... they're all right. They're both all right for the most part, though it's a moment before Oscar processes this, his breath still coming faster than it really should.]
... thanks.
[It shouldn't have been necessary. He should have been able to save himself.
